Hello from Frankfurt!

This is my last night in Europe. Tonight one adventure ends and a new one begins.

One month of traveling of seeing of hearing of missing of appreciating of learning.

I have many regrets in my life, no matter how forward looking I tell myself to be. But nothing has made me regret this trip. Not everything has been smooth sailing, not everything was perfect, and most definitely this wasn't without costs. But I've learned things about people and cultures I would otherwise never. I've learned new things about myself.

And tomorrow a brand new learning experience awaits me. Another oweek (without games! or cheering!), most likely my last as a 'freshie' and another period of settling down. Just for three months, make them last, make them worth Evelyn.

What will happen tomorrow?

As I was looking through Mh's thank you dinner08 photos. I think I finally realised the true meaning of the words opportunity cost.

I first learnt these two words back in JC1 during my econs class. Back then it was all about how making 3 more red pencil boxes may mean you could make 2 less blue pencil boxes.

Now it means giving up spending quality time with dear friends for making new ones.
It means giving up comfort zones for new experiences.
It means giving up time with family for discovering new things.
It means giving up celebrating my best friend's 21st for experiencing a different life and culture.
It means giving up things and people I love to discover more things and people to love.

I felt overwhelmed and all I wanted to do was cry. If I could only go back to Singapore right now.

But really who am I to complain? Just today I touched the Berlin Wall. A few days back I was at Oktoberfest. Before that, Venice, Rome, Florence and many more.

I'm living a dream. And like all things, dreams have costs.

I know my costs now.

Hello from Munich!!!!!!!!!

It's Oktoberfest today! So exciting!!!!!!!!!!! =DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

We're in the last stretch of our backpacking trip! Last country! Germany! I feel like I've been travelling for ages though. Meeting people of all ages of all countries and of all races.

I've truely understood the difference between nationality and race. That there can be no real language barriers. That stereotypes may be more accurate than you realise. The difference between welfare and efficiency. A different type of tolerance.

Travelling to a destination is meaningless without the journey.

HELLO FROM VIENNA.

I LOVE VIENNA. IT'S VERY COOL AND VERY FUN AND THE PEOPLE ARE VERY WELCOMING.

I just wish it would stop raining.

Seriously, sometimes I'm so cold I just shiver so badly it's not funny. Sometimes all I wanna do is curl up in a coffee shop, drink coffee and take several cat naps.

This is entirely not good for my backpacker's budget. XD

Anyways...last I updated I was in...Florence?

After that was Rome (very hot and so much history. <3) and Venice (so pretty! and quaint! like a movie set!) and now Vienna! Finally met up with Tze Khee so it's us three backpacking now.

It feels weird still travelling and having slightly less then 2 weeks more of travelling when people are having mid-sem or have already started school. All I've been doing is travelling round Europe. Also now that I've no more homesickness (BUT I STILL <3 AND MISS EVERYBODY) I kind of have the travelling bug. I want to go to Turkey! and Prague!

Hello hello from ITALY, FLORENCE!

First thing first, ITALY IS HOT. LIKE SINGAPORE HOT.

I was missing Singapore's heat in Paris but now I take it all back! It's really really hot and dry. This means I have to drink lots of water!

The hostel I'm staying in is pretty cool! And they have internet service which I love. I'm crossing my fingers that the Rome hotel is just as good!

OH! Yesterday was the first time I took an overnight train from Paris to Florence! It was a very very unique expereince! HAHAHAS. I never want to sleep in the bottom bed ever again!

Visited the leaning tower in Pisa, it was such a surreal experience. It's like there really is a leaning tower! Hahahas. We had lots of fun taking retarded pictures with it!!! XD

Hey guys!!!!!!!!

Tonight is my last night in PARIS and I am so sad! Paris is absolutely beautiful and if I ever have the chance I will bring my family here because really Paris is beautiful! And the night scene is spectacular! I wished I could upload my photos but the com is simply too slow! The Eiffel Tower glows blue at night and the two times we visited it, the two times it sparkled and shimmered with the help of like a million white lights.

It really is the most beautiful sight I have seen.

This is also the last time in god knows how long I have any internet at home! Crossing my fingers that the hostels I'll be staying in have internet and a computer!

And excellent news! I will be going to Munich during Oktoberfest!!!!!!!!!! Words cannot express my joy and I am too dead beat to express my joy fully physically. XD

In homesickness news. Today was really bad so Yuen Kim suggested calling home. I called my parents, had a good cry and am now feeling much much better! =)

Being homesick is really a weird thing.

I can be enjoying myself and the sights and their beauty one moment, but on the verge of crying in another.

So to my lovely friends, thanks for your words of encouragement! I really am having a good time and an experience of a lifetime. It's just sometimes at the spur of the moment, of the littlest things something triggers and I miss Singapore so much.

But I am having fun! Like today I went to Walt Disney Studios Paris!! That was very very fun!! I had the time of my life! Indeed my dream is to visit all the disney theme parks in the world! I never used to enjoy theme parks because I viewd it as a waste of time since I don't really like the rides. But anything Disney and I just go crazy. XD

The only wet blanket was literally a wet one. It rained and rained for the second half of the day. But it's not like that stopped us from taking photos and running from one attraction to another. =) It was however, very very cold. I'm so glad I chose to bring my jacket. Maybe because it's late summer near fall, because OMG summer in Europe is totally no where near Singapore's heat can. =/

Paris is beautiful! Everything looks so quaint and pretty! It really is a lovely city.

Except public toilets cost like 150EUR unless it's Macs. So like the whole city smells of pee....hahahas.

Connection isn't that bad so I can't promise photos in picassa.

And now off to eat my late late dinner!!!!
